Dr W. Janssens (FEWEB, Development economics) is Associate Professor in Development Economics at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and senior researcher at the Amsterdam Institute for International Development (AIID). She holds a PhD from the Tinbergen Institute. Her work focuses on behavioral analyses of (intra-household) decision-making on health and household financial management; as well as on quantitative impact evaluations of interventions in the areas of health insurance and microfinance, sexual and reproductive health, women’s empowerment, and early child development. She has extensive experience in designing and coordinating large-scale, multi-disciplinary research programmes across the globe, and in collaborating with local implementing partners and international research teams to provide rigorous and locally grounded policy advice. She has published research articles in high-ranking economic, medical and demographic journals.
