Chair Environmental Geography group
Prof Dr Ir Peter Verburg (FALW, Environmental geography group) is leading the Environmental Geography group within the Faculty of Earth and Life Sciences at VU University Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Peter Verburg has strong expertise in spatial analysis and modelling of land systems and the analysis of ecosystem services. His is specialized in conducting socio-ecological systems analysis of land systems relevant to food production, biodiversity conservation, rural development and climate change. Peter has a PhD from Wageningen University and is currently also a visiting professor at the Swiss Federal Research Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape and a visiting professor at Beijing Normal University. He has been chair of the Scientific Steering Committee of the Global Land Programme of Future Earth, bringing together the largest international network in the field of land change research with an interdisciplinary perspective.
