Assistant Professor in the Environmental Geography
Dr Ir J. van Vliet (FALW, Environmental geography group) is an Assistant Professor in the Environmental Geography group. In his research he studies processes that driver land-use change as well as the consequences of these land-use changes. These dynamics typically require the both biophysical insights, for example related to agricultural production and climate change, but also socio-economic understanding, for example related to farmer decision making, and policy implications. His research ranges from small scale case studies to global scale model-based assessments, and mainly builds on quantitative assessments, such as spatial analysis and land use modelling. Jasper teaches several courses at bachelor and master level, mainly related to spatial analysis, and supervises a number of theses related to land use chance and the environment.
