"Call for Student Thesis Fellowships by ACWFS"
Are you a VU master student conducting a thesis related to food and nutrition security? Do you need 500 euro to support research and dissemination of your food and nutrition security related research? Apply now!
The ACWFS firmly believes that education complements our efforts to contribute to transdisciplinary research on food and nutrition security (FNS). Students in the field of FNS are the future workforce for FNS research, they bring innovative ideas into current research, and are critical in grassroots research. Therefore the ACWFS has set up Student Thesis Fellowships to assist students in their thesis work. Students can apply for financial support for projects (‘thesis projects’) that involve data collection and dissemination activities and that are supportive of their thesis work.
Applications can be submitted continuously during the year. The maximum amount for which can be applied is 500 euro per Student Thesis Fellowship. Each application will be assessed on the eligibility and the quality, organization, feasibility and ‘value for money’ of the thesis project (see eligibility and assessment criteria below). Proposals will be evaluated by the ACWFS Management Team. Decisions on approval will be taken within 4 working weeks of submission of the application. If the thesis project is approved, the size of the grant will be based upon a discussion between the MT and the student.
- Students eligible to request funding are master students of the VU Amsterdam who are conducting (or planning to conduct) thesis research.
- The thesis is relevant for food and nutrition security.
- Activities that are eligible for funding are, cost directly related to data collection (e.g. instruments, translators, local travel) and dissemination (e.g. workshops, videos, materials).
- Students need to hand in a signed letter of support of their VU thesis supervisor.
