Lia van Wesenbeeck appointed head of Amsterdam Centre for World Food Studies

Lia van Wesenbeeck has been appointed to Director of the Amsterdam Centre for World Food Studies, starting 1 July 2018.

We are very proud to announce that Dr. Lia van Wesenbeeck, currently member of the management team of the Amsterdam Centre for World Food Studies, has been appointed to Director of the Amsterdam Centre for World Food Studies, starting 1 July 2018. Lia van Wesenbeeck obtained her PhD in Economics (2000) at the Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam. After her PhD she was senior researcher at the Stichting Onderzoek Wereldvoedselvoorziening (SOW-VU). Currently Lia is Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics and Senior Lecturer at Amsterdam University College. Her field of expertise is economic modelling of food systems, including natural processes, and in spatially explicit data analysis of food security indicators and drivers.

Lia will succeed Prof. dr. Remco Oostendorp, professor in International Economics, who led the Centre over the past two years and made the transition of SOW-VU to ACWFS possible. We would like to thank Remco Oostendorp for his contribution to this transition and the positioning of the Centre internationally.
