Ben Sonneveld appointed ACWFS Deputy Director
Ben Sonneveld has been appointed as member of the Management Team of the Amsterdam Centre for World Food Studies, starting 1 November 2018

We are very proud to announce that Dr. Ben Sonneveld has been appointed member of the Management Team of the Amsterdam Centre for World Food Studies, starting 1 November 2018. Ben (1957) is a senior researcher who worked for the International Institute for Land Reclamation and Improvement (Indonesia), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (Latin America), the Center for World Food Studies (Africa, Middle East) and is currently affiliated to the Athena Institute. Ben has a successful acquisition record and publishes in leading journals on natural resource management. He is currently guiding the "Allotment Gardens in Benin" project to its final stage, continuing his project on conflict in fishery communities in Benin and spearheading the Palestinian-Dutch Academic Cooperation Program (PADUCO) water project called "Precision irrigation and optimization of using fertilizer in date palm tree cultivation in the Jordan Valley".
Ben will succeed Dr Dirk Essink as member of the Team, and we would like to thank Dirk for his contribution to this transition, the development of the Minor and the positioning of the Centre.
